Yoko Fujita was born in Japan, where she had the opportunity to study with Professor S. Suzuki at the early age of 4 years. In 1975 she continued her studies at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia with Ivan Galamian, Jaime Laredo and Felix Galimir. From 1982 to 1986 she held the position of Assistant Concertmaster of the Bamberger Symphoniker under Eugen Jochum.

She has been a guest soloist with various orchestras in Japan and Europe. Chamber music engagements have brought her to festivals as celebrated as Toru Takemitsu's Music Today in Japan, the Seattle International Music Festival, Stavanger Music Festival in Norway, Musicades in Lyon/France, Festivale de Prades, Cyclades in Syros Greece and, last but not least, the Schleswig-Holstein Festival in Germany.

Yoko Fujita is a founding member of the chamber orchestra, New European Strings under the leadership of Dmitri Sitkovetsky, which in 1995 rose to the Classic Top Ten in the US with their recording of the Goldberg Variations.

Since 1995 Yoko has frequently performed contemporary music as a member of the Ensemble TaG in Winterthur, Switzerland. This January, Japanese composer Atsuhiko Gondai dedicated a piece to her, named Goshiki Sanga (Schott publisher). She has also been a guest of The American String Project in Seattle since 2001.

Yoko has made many recordings of masterpieces such as Handel, Paganini, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and others. She currently lives in Zurich, Switzerland.
